About Me

Finding My Way to Drawing

My name is Otto Friedenstein. I’m Colombian-German and have been living in Bucharest, Romania, since 2023. I’m an engineer with over 20 years of experience in technology and digital services. Although art has always been close to me, it has belonged to a different world from my professional life.

A few years ago, I went through a period of anxiety, which eventually led me to seek professional help. As part of that process, I was encouraged to explore an activity that could help me focus my attention on something different from my daily routine.

That suggestion eventually led me to drawing, an activity I greatly enjoyed as a child and rediscovered inspired by my mother, who is an artist and a constant source of inspiration.

I didn’t start with artistic ambitions or a clear idea of where it might lead. I was simply looking for an activity that would allow me to slow down, concentrate, and give my mind a break.

When Drawing Became Something More

At first, drawing was simply a way to disconnect from everything. I would sit down with a pencil and paper, focus on what was in front of me, and enjoy the process without worrying too much about the result.

But gradually, something changed. I became more curious about the process, more interested in understanding how drawings work, and more motivated to improve. What had started as a simple activity slowly grew into a genuine passion and a desire to keep learning and exploring.

Since early 2025, I’ve been dedicating more time to studying and practicing drawing. I explore different techniques, work on the fundamentals, and learn from my mistakes.

Along the way, I’ve learned to embrace my own pace, enjoy discovering new things, and see drawing as an ongoing journey rather than a destination.

Why I Created OttoStudio

I created OttoStudio as a space to share my journey of learning to draw, connect with others who share similar interests, and offer tutorials, resources, and digital tools inspired by what I discover along the way. My goal is to make learning to draw more accessible, practical, and enjoyable for everyone.

Whether you’re looking to develop your drawing skills, learn to observe the world differently, explore your creativity, or simply find a way to slow down and disconnect from everyday demands, I hope you’ll find something here that resonates with you.

Let’s keep learning, exploring, and discovering the world of drawing together!
